Where was VisionQuest filmed? Discover the real British filming locations behind Marvel’s android adventure, from historic mansions to hidden pubs.
What makes us human? Our memories, our emotions, or something no artificial intelligence can ever replicate?
Marvel’s VisionQuest (2026) tackles the question through an android having the ultimate identity crisis. And his AI roommates aren’t exactly helping. Paul Bettany returns as White Vision, the reconstructed Avenger who disappeared after WandaVision.
Haunted by memories he can access but no longer emotionally connect with, Vision retreats into an artificial world populated by AI agents, including J.A.R.V.I.S., F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., and Ultron (James Spader).
Imagine sharing your headspace with a committee of chatbots, including one with a history of attempted human extinction. Not exactly a healthy support system! But, beneath the superhero spectacle, VisionQuest explores some fascinating philosophical questions.
Can AI develop genuine consciousness? Are memories enough to define who we are? Can a machine experience love, grief, and belonging, or merely simulate them? And where do we draw the line between artificial intelligence and humanity?
Created for television by Terry Matalas, VisionQuest completes the trilogy that began with WandaVision (2021) and continued with Agatha All Along (2024).
The eight-episode Disney+ series follows Vision as a bounty hunter forces him out of hiding alongside Thomas Shepherd (Ruaridh Mollica), a mysterious teenager with an extraordinary connection to his past.
It’s a story about identity, family, and what it truly means to be alive, with a little Marvel-style chaos thrown in for good measure.

🤖 VisionQuest Filming Locations
Filmed across the United Kingdom in 2025 under the working title Tin Man, VisionQuest used real British locations to create its unusual mixture of Scottish hideaways, stately homes, and artificial intelligence simulations.
Let’s follow the trail of Marvel‘s most philosophical android, preferably before Ultron starts offering directions.
🍺 The Chiltern Hills, England – Vision’s Scottish Hideaway
The rolling countryside of the Chiltern Hills supplied one of the series’ most surprising filming locations. Production crews transformed a traditional English village pub into The Old Selkie, a fictional Scottish establishment where Vision works while concealing his true identity.
The makeover included Scottish signage and a Saltire flag, allowing the English location to pass convincingly for Scotland. The pub provides an unlikely refuge for an android capable of flying through walls. Then again, nobody expects to find a former Avenger behind the bar.
What was filmed here:
- The Chiltern Hills, England: The Old Selkie pub exterior scenes.
What to see & do here:
- Chiltern Hills: Scenic trails and villages.
- Chiltern Open Air Museum: Historic buildings & rural heritage.
- Wendover Woods: Woodland walks and viewpoints.
- Coombe Hill: Sweeping views across Buckinghamshire.
🏰 Hatfield House, Hertfordshire – Inside Vision’s Memories
Hatfield House, a magnificent Jacobean mansion in Hertfordshire, provides one of the most impressive settings in VisionQuest. Built in the early seventeenth century, this historic estate is famous for its ornate state rooms, elaborate ceilings, and grand architecture.
For VisionQuest, Hatfield House doubles as Horton Manor, a location associated with the series’ exploration of Vision‘s memories and artificial intelligence.
The mansion’s imposing architecture creates an intriguing contrast with Vision‘s futuristic origins. After all, what better place for a technologically advanced android to contemplate existence than a four-hundred-year-old house?
Hatfield House has also appeared in numerous productions, including The Favourite and The Crown.
What was filmed here:
- Hatfield House, Hertfordshire, England: Horton Manor with historic architecture.
What to see & do here:
- St. Albans Cathedral: A magnificent medieval landmark.
- Verulamium Museum: Explore the area’s Roman heritage.

✈️ White Waltham Airfield, Berkshire – Paladin’s Hideout
White Waltham Airfield, near Maidenhead in Berkshire, provided another filming location for the series. The historic aviation site was used for scenes involving Paladin‘s jet hangar, adding a distinctly military atmosphere to the bounty hunter’s pursuit of Vision.
With its aviation infrastructure and open airfield setting, the location offered a practical backdrop for a character whose work involves tracking down extremely dangerous targets.
Of course, pursuing an android who can fly and phase through solid objects presents some unusual logistical problems. A private jet might be the least of Paladin‘s concerns.
What was filmed here:
- White Waltham Airfield, Maidenhead, Berkshire, England: Paladin’s jet hangar scenes.
What to see & do here:
- Windsor Castle: Explore the historic royal residence.
- Maidenhead Riverside: Enjoy walks beside the Thames.
🏙️ London, England – Vision’s High-Stakes Manhunt
London becomes a dangerous playground for White Vision as he attempts to evade bounty hunters while navigating his complicated relationship with Thomas Shepherd.
In Episode 1, No Strings, the chase moves through bustling Borough Market, where Vision tries to shake off Duncan amid the crowds and narrow streets. The Market Porter Pub adds a familiar London landmark to the action.
Tottenham Police Station features in Episodes 2 & 3, including a heavily guarded court services bus departure. Meanwhile, Smith Square provides a parking spot for Paladin‘s surveillance van.
The Southbank supplies sweeping city views, while Canary Wharf‘s glass-and-steel architecture creates a convincing backdrop for the corporate interests pursuing Vision‘s advanced technology.
Even an android who can walk through walls struggles to escape London‘s traffic.
What was filmed here:
- Borough Market, Southwark, London: Vision evades Duncan through streets.
- The Market Porter, Southwark, London: Episode 1 pub exterior chase.
- Tottenham Police Station, London: Court services bus departure.

- The Shard, Southwark: Panoramic views across London.
- Tate Modern, Bankside: World-class contemporary art collections.
- Shakespeare’s Globe, Bankside: Theatre beside the Thames.
- Westminster Abbey, Westminster: Centuries of royal history.
- Big Ben, Westminster: London’s famous clock tower.
- London Eye, Southbank: Spectacular views across London.
- Greenwich: Maritime history & riverside attractions.
🎥 Pinewood Studios, Buckinghamshire – Marvel’s Artificial World
Pinewood Studios in Iver, Buckinghamshire, served as the main production base for VisionQuest. Soundstages accommodated the elaborate interiors, technically demanding sequences, and digital environments.
Among the production’s notable creations were sets associated with Vision‘s artificial mindscape, where he encounters human representations of familiar AI systems, including J.A.R.V.I.S., F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., and Ultron.
Production reports also describe a constructed Madripoor streetscape, complete with the Princess Bar, demonstrating Marvel‘s preference for combining practical sets with visual effects.
For an android trying to determine what’s real, an entire fictional world built inside a film studio seems wonderfully appropriate.
What was filmed here:
- Pinewood Studios, Iver, Buckinghamshire: Vision‘s mindscape.
- Pinewood Studios backlot: Madripoor streets & Princess Bar.
What to see & do here:
- Windsor Great Park: Royal landscapes and walking trails.
- Black Park Country Park: Woodland trails near Pinewood.
- Colne Valley Regional Park: Lakes, wildlife, and countryside.
