Where was Task filmed? From Delco diners to quarries, discover the Philadelphia and Delaware County locations that bring HBO’s gritty crime drama to life.

The HBO crime drama Task drops Mark Ruffalo into the kind of Philadelphia crime story where nobody’s having a particularly good day.
Created by Brad Ingelsby, the writer behind Mare of Easttown, the series follows Tom Brandis, a former priest turned FBI agent, who is pulled back into the field to lead a new task force investigating a string of violent drug house robberies.
The catch? Tom Pelphrey’s Robbie Prendergrast is behind those robberies. A struggling sanitation worker and single dad, he turns to crime to keep his family afloat, putting him directly in the task force’s crosshairs.
Set and filmed across Philadelphia and Delaware County, Task adds another chapter to the unofficial “Brad Ingelsby Cinematic Universe,” where Pennsylvania is less a backdrop and more a character with excellent timing and terrible luck.

🚔 Task Filming Locations
From Philadelphia streets to Delaware County neighborhoods, parks, diners, and quarries, Task uses real Pennsylvania locations to create its gritty crime drama world.
🏘️ Broomall, Delaware County
Broomall has a more specific connection to Task than simply providing suburban scenery. Tom Brandis, played by Mark Ruffalo, lives in a house in Broomall’s Marple Township, and the exterior of the 1939 home was used in the series. The location is about 10 miles west of Philadelphia.
Because Tom’s house is a private residence, it’s best viewed from public areas. Broomall is a starting point for exploring other Task locations across Delaware County, as well as the Thomas Massey House, one of the oldest surviving 17th-century buildings.
What was filmed here:
- Broomall, Delaware County: Suburban homes, streets, neighborhood scenes.
- Marple Township: Driving and exterior sequences.

The scene was filmed inside the university’s Mirenda Center for Sport, Spirituality and Character Development when Mark Ruffalo and the crew used the Mirenda Center and Our Lady of Angels Convent.

This longtime neighborhood restaurant was among the area’s recognizable local establishments used into the series, alongside other businesses such as Dixon’s Lounge and Rita’s Italian Ice. Located just off Upland Avenue and close to I-95, the diner is a short drive from the Delaware River waterfront.
What was filmed here:
- Upland Diner: Diner scenes and conversations.
🍺 Dixon’s Lounge, Sharon Hill
Dixon’s Lounge, at 1401 Hook Road in Sharon Hill, was one of the Delaware County businesses used during filming of Task. Production filmed scenes inside the lounge, a local drinking establishment in Darby Township.

What was filmed here:
- Dixon’s Lounge: Bar scenes and conversations.
- 1401 Hook Road: Exterior shots around the tavern.
- Sharon Hill: Delaware County neighborhood scenes.
🍝 Ralph’s Italian Restaurant, Philadelphia
Ralph’s Italian Restaurant in Philadelphia became a Task filming location when production took over part of the Italian Market.
The family opened the restaurant nearby in 1900 and it has occupied its current South 9th Street building since 1915. The three-story brownstone originally served as a boarding house before the first two floors were converted into the restaurant and bar.

The park features prominently in the series’ sixth episode, where its steep, rocky terrain and wooded landscape become the setting for a major chase and shootout. You can explore the same landscape through the park’s extensive trail system, including Forbidden Drive along Wissahickon Creek.

- Wissahickon Creek area: Woodland investigation scenes.
- Northwest Philadelphia: Forested establishing shots.

🏭 Coatesville, Pennsylvania

Coatesville’s Polish American Citizens Club was transformed into the fictional Lefty’s Taproom, the gang’s clubhouse. Its downtown streets, older commercial buildings, and industrial heritage provide several of the Chester County locations seen in Task.
What was filmed here:
- Coatesville’s Polish American Citizens Club: Lefty’s Taproom clubhouse.
- South Fourth Avenue: Robbie and Cliff’s garbage routes.
- Coatesville streets: Working class exterior scenes.

🏠 Downingtown, Pennsylvania
Downingtown is home to one of Task’s most identifiable residential filming locations – Robbie Prendergrast’s house in Uwchlan Township, just outside Downingtown, in Chester County.
The property is a private residence, best treated as a drive-by filming location. Downingtown offers other Task connections, including the Coatesville-Downingtown Bypass and Marsh Creek State Park, both featured in the series.

- Coatesville-Downingtown Bypass: Driving and road sequences.

🪨 Bangor Quarry, Northampton County
The old Bangor Union Quarry in Northampton County appears in the first episode when Robbie, Cliff, and Peaches swim and sunbathe, turning the abandoned industrial site into an unexpected leisure spot.
The production searched extensively for a location where the harshness of the environment could exist alongside striking natural beauty. The resulting scenes combine exposed rock, high quarry walls, and water, giving Robbie’s storyline some of its most visually expansive moments.
Note: Bangor Union Quarry is on private property behind a barbed-wire fence. Trespassing can result in a $500 fine and arrest. The flooded pits contain freezing, extremely deep water, sheer rock ledges, and submerged debris, making swimming or cliff jumping extremely dangerous.
What was filmed here:
- Bangor Quarry: Robbie, Cliff, and Peaches swim and sunbathe.
🌉 Woy Bridge, Bedford County
Woy Bridge appears in Episode 5, “Vagrants,” when the task force closes in on Robbie. The bridge is in Bedford County, near Everett, roughly 190 miles west of Philadelphia.
