Where was Matchbox The Movie filmed? Chase the action across Budapest, Morocco, Slovakia, and Los Angeles in John Cena’s globe-trotting spy thriller.

Matchbox The Movie (2026) takes its action on a seriously international road trip, from Budapest’s Chain Bridge to the spectacular Sahara Desert.
And unlike the miniature cars that inspired it, this adventure requires considerably more than a matchbox to contain! Inspired by the legendary Mattel Matchbox toy cars, this action-comedy stars John Cena, Jessica Biel, Sam Richardson, Arturo Castro, and Teyonah Parris.
The story follows Sean (Cena), an undercover CIA agent who returns to his hometown and reconnects with his childhood friends. Their reunion takes an unexpected turn when they become caught up in a dangerous international conspiracy, sending the unlikely team on a mission to save the world.
Directed by Extraction filmmaker Sam Hargrave, the movie combines high-speed car chases, spectacular helicopter stunts, explosions, and globe-trotting adventure, bringing one of Mattel’s most recognisable toy brands to the big screen.
